Tanzania Tourism Board and National Aviation Services (NAS) Forge Partnership to Promote Tourism in Tanzania

National Aviation Services (NAS), the fastest growing aviation services provider in the emerging markets, signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB) to promote Tanzanian touristic attractions within and outside the country. The signing event was held at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, officiated by Dr. Hamisi Kigwangalla, the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism for Tanzania with Judge Thomas Mihayo, Chairman, TTB and Professor Costa Mahalu, Board Director, NAS Africa.



Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Kigwangalla commended the Tanzania Tourist Board for the promotional initiative which will play a significant role in efforts to penetrate the potential tourism markets in Asia and Middle East. “I am delighted that you grabbed this rare opportunity to collaborate with NAS and bring them aboard as your partner in your promotional drive within and beyond our borders meant to attract more tourists to Tanzania. This is among the wonderful approach in promoting our country” he said.

Through this joint venture initiative, TTB will utilize the Pearl Lounges operated by NAS across Africa, the Middle East and South Asia to promote Tanzania tourism through promotional material and documentaries on screens. Passenger buses used airside as part of NAS’s ground handling operations in Dar es Salam, Kilimanjaro and Dodoma will also be branded to promote local tourism.

Mihayo highlighted that the board is enthusiastic to work with a big international company from the aviation industry to carry forward their agenda of penetrating new potential markets and aggressively promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions worldwide.

Professor Mahalu said “NAS will market Tanzanian tourism potential in all its airport lounges and through airport shuttle buses across the world.”

NAS is known as one of the fastest growing aviation services providers in the emerging markets, present in over 40 airports across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, handling seven of the world’s top 10 airlines, managing more than 40 airport lounges and an employee base of 8,000 people from over 65 nationalities. Affiliated with leading industry organizations, NAS follows international aviation standards with certifications from ISO, ISAGO, EMS, RA3 and OHSAS practices.

NAS has invested over $12 million in Tanzania with an additional $50 million earmarked for investment into the African region with 352 Tanzanians recruited and trained. The company also remains socially responsible company by driving efforts to give back to the local communities in Tanzania with a focus on education, health and tourism promotion. This includes running an internship program to train local youth for alternative careers in aviation and offer better opportunities for further employment. The internship extended from Dar Es Salaam only in 2018 to Kilimanjaro and Dodoma in April 2019, and 10% of the interns have received employment contracts.
